Hello, Bob, I sympathise about crappy threads...I have found internet invaluable for buying stuff for tatting...or even e-bay. DMC 80 is one of the easiest threads, and maybe if your wife has lace-making supplies she may have some in her box. It looks rather fine, but is a lot easier to use than many of the thicker threads.
Fancy stealing your wife's 'bits and pieces' - what a disgrace!!!!!! I'm sure she was willing to share anyway. LOVE your tatting and her bobbin lace (used to do that, once!). Well done on the clunies - I've just had lessons from Mimi Dillman the 'cluny queen'. SO glad I've just found your blog too. May your knots always flip for you. JaneEb
Very good work and smart improvising. I also love your wife's bobbin lace, especially the Madonna. The Madonna and Child are my favorite subjects for woodcarving.
